Profile
Dr. Lins clinical interests include surgical treatment of cancer and disease involving the mouth, throat, neck, thyroid, parathyroid, and salivary glands. He has special interest in the use of new and minimally invasive technology in head and neck surgery. He is the first surgeon in the state of Michigan to use the robotic technology (da Vinci robot) to perform surgery on the larynx (voice box) and pharynx (throat) for treatment of cancer. He is also the first Otolaryngologist in Michigan to perform a robotic-assisted thyroidectomy (thyroid surgery without a neck incision). Dr. Lins basic science research, funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs and National Cancer Institute, focuses on the development of a blood test for early detection of head and neck cancer in high risk patients. In addition to his involvement in the residency program, Dr. Lin is also involved in head and neck fellowship programs at WSU. Dr. Lin has published extensively with over 40 publications in peer reviewed journals. He serves as a reviewer and as an editorial board member for multiple journals. Dr. Lin is a diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and is an active member of many professional societies.
